His Grace Bishop Anthony (Azizov) of Akhtubinsk and Enotaevka is the ruling bishop of the Eparchy of Akhtubinsk, which is one of the constituent dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church's Metropolia of Astrakhan.
Life
The future Bishop Anthony was born in Astrakhan, Russia, as Igor Shamsullayevich Azizov on June 18, 1979. At age 19 he was baptized an Orthodox Christian, and after completing his secular studies entered the theological school of the Eparchy of Volgograd in 2004, graduating a year later. On August 15, 2005, Igor was tonsured a monk at the Monastery of St. John the Baptist in Astrakhan with the name Anthony, after St. Anthony the Great.
In September 2005 Monk Anthony was ordained to the diaconate by Archbishop Jonah (Karpukhin) of Astrakhan and Enotaevka. A month later he was ordained to the priesthood, remaining part of the brotherhood of the Monastery of St. John the Baptist.
