John (Wendland) of New York and the Aleutians

John (Wendland) of New York and the Aleutians was a metropolitan of the Church of Russia and the head of the Russian Exarchate of North America from 1963 to 1967.

Born Constantine Nikolaevich Wendland in 1909, Bp. John was named the Patriarchal Exarch of the Russian Exarchate of North America with the title of Metropolitan on August 3, 1963. He was recalled to the Soviet Union on July 10, 1967. Metr. John was assisted by Bishop Dositheus (Ivanchenko) who was consecrated bishop on April 17, 1966. Metr. John reposed in 1989.
