Vsevolod moved to Chicago to assume authority of parishes in the western part of the country.  When the two Churches joined Abp. Vsevolod was elevated to the rank of archbishop, and on [[April 14]], 2000, the [[Holy Synod]] of Constantinople elevated Bp. Vsevolod officially to that rank.

Archbishop Vsevolod was consecrated to the episcopacy on September 27, 1987, as primate of the body known as the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of America, which included those parishes of Ukrainian heritage in the United States under the authority of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. In 1997, when the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the USA came under the omophorion of the Patriarchate as well, the two bodies merged and Bp. Vsevolod moved to Chicago to assume authority of parishes in the western part of the country. When the two churches joined, Abp.
