Theodoros (Dimitriou) of Heliopolis

His Grace, the Right Reverend Theodoros (Dimitriou) of Mozambique is Bishop of the Diocese of Mozambique, part of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa.

Life

Antonios Dimitriou was born in Heraklion, Crete. He studied at and graduated from the Theological Faculty of the University of Athens. He was tonsured a monk at the Monastery of Prevelis. Entering the clergy, he was ordained deacon and priest by Metropolitan Theodoros of Lambis and Sfakion.

Heiromonk Theodoros served in the Metropolis of Lambis for the next seventeen years. His service included that as a preacher, vicar, and confessor. He also was the director of the Press Office and Chancellor. He was raised to the rank of archimandrite by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

On November 1, 2006, he was elected the first bishop of the Diocese of Mozambique and was consecrated by Patriarch Theodoros II at the Patriarchal Church of St. Savvas in Alexandria on November 27, 2006. Bp. Theodoros was enthroned in Maputo at the Cathedral of Archangels on January 28, 2007.
