Dorotheos (Stekas) of Syros

His Eminence Dorotheos (Stekas) of Syros, Tinos, Andros, Kea and Milos was the Metropolitan of the Metropolis of Syros, Tinos, Andros, Kea, and Milos under the jurisdiction of the Church of Greece. The metropolis is located among islands of the Greek Cyclades archipelago in the northwestern Aegean Sea. He served as metropolitan from 1965 to 2001.

Life

Metr. Dorotheos (Stekas) was born in 1913 in the village of Mykonos on Mykonos Island in the Greek Cyclades in the Aegean Sea. He entered the Holy Orders after having studied theology and law when he was ordained a deacon in 1934. He was ordained a priest in 1940. Father Dorotheos was elected to the episcopate and enthroned as metropolitan of the Metropolis of Syros, Tinos, Andros, Kea and Milos in 1965.

Metr. Dorotheos (Stekas) reposed on August 14, 2001 and was succeeded as metropolitan by Dorotheos II (Polikandriotis).
