Monastery of the Glorious Ascension (Resaca, Georgia)
The Monastery of the Glorious Ascension is a cenobitic institution under the jurisdiction of the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Church of Jerusalem.
The Monastery, popularly known as ‘Ascension Monastery’, is located in Resaca, Georgia, about sixty miles northwest of Atlanta along I75. The Monastery was founded in 1966 and was received into the Orthodox Church in August 1977. In 2002, the Brotherhood was received into the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and made part of the Brotherhood of the Holy Sepulchre, which is the Brotherhood from Saint Savvas’ Monastery in the Judean Desert that is responsible for maintaining and protecting the Holy Sepulchre and other Holy Sites and Shrines in the Holy Land.
The Monastery, also, supports the Saint Andry Rublev Guild that conducts iconography workshops at the Monastery.
