Template:Church

This template adds an information box to articles about whole Churches: autocephalous and autonomous Churches and other church jurisdictions. Put it at the very top of the article. For dioceses, use Template:Diocese instead.

Every field is optional; rows with no value are not shown. If name is left out, the page name is used.

Some older articles put the logo inside name, e.g. name=Church of Greece[[Image:Greece logo.gif|center|Church of Greece]]. This still works, but new articles should use image instead.

Editing this template

Each field is one table row of three lines:

The #if at the end of the first line hides the row when the field is empty. To add a field, copy a row and change the label and the field name in both places. The box's size, border and background are set once, on the first line ({|).

image_size		Defaults to 150px.
alt		Alt text for the image, for readers who cannot see it.
caption	text under the picture

independence	Autocephaly / autonomy declared	Year, and by whom if useful.
recognition	Recognized	Year and by which Churches, e.g. 1923 by [[Church of Constantinople|Constantinople]]
primate	Current primate	Link to the primate's article.
hq	Headquarters	City and country.
territory	Territory	Primary canonical territory.
possessions	Possessions abroad	Dioceses or parishes outside the canonical territory.
language	Liturgical language(s)
