The '''Diocese of Burundi and Rwanda ''' was established by a Patriarchal and Synodal decree on [[October 6]], 2009 with its [[see]] located in the capital city Bujumbura. Prior to its foundation, both countries weren't part of any Alexandrian jurisdiction. On [[November 26]], 2018 the bishopric was promoted to an archdiocese.
