Elected [[titular bishop]] of Harioupolis in 1960, he was [[consecration of a bishop|consecrated]] to the episcopacy on [[November 6]], 1960, at St. Sophia's and appointed to oversee the archdiocesan districts of [[Metropolis of Chicago|Chicago]].
Since 1967 until his retirement in 1973 1974 he owersaw the archdiocesan district of [[Metropolis of Atlanta|Charlotte]].
Bishop Aimilianos died of heart ailments in August 28, 1992 at 91 years old at his residence in New York City.
