Reduce Image Size

How can I reduce the size of an image? Vasiliki 17:46, January 20, 2008 (PST)

There are two ways (that I know of) to reduce an image: either put "thumb" in between two bars, just like you did for right or frame, or instead specify a pixel size. For example: [[Image:nothing|right|200px|This link doesn't go anywhere!]] And maybe this is just because I'm slow, but I can't seem to get both thumb and frame to work at the same time, so I deleted the frame tags.
Also, when I first came to the wiki I found it was very helpful to click the edit button on existing articles just to see how the formatting was done, without making any changes. For example, you can see how the I shrunk the pictures and moved them in this article. It's better not to have two images right on top of each other, so I spaced them out and put them on different sides of the page because I personally like balance. Feel free to move the placement of the pictures anywhere you want, though, or put both back on the right side; that's not really important. Gabriela 18:52, January 20, 2008 (PST)
Hi Gabriela, i have tried looking at other people's coding but I couldnt find one specific example on image size. Thanks for your help (again). -- Vasiliki 19:06, January 20, 2008 (PST)

Hello, thanks for the entry on the Taxiarchis icon; I read a longer account of this once but cannot locate it at present; regarding the title of the Mantamados article, as far as I am aware the name of the icon is primarily “Taxiarchis” (Archangel) Michael" but the main entry here is listed as that of the village; and you have included two titles for this entry; if the name of the village is commonly associated with the icon, then I suggest perhaps the title be moved to "Archangel Michael of Mantamados (Taxiarchis)". Just a suggestion for clarity. This would put the title more in line with other entries for key icons, such as those of the Theotokos, and also include the other common reference to this icon, the Taxiarchis. Cheers. —Chris talk 9:17, January 20, 2008 (EST)

Hi Chris, yes the area is Mantammados but most Greek people actually name the icon as "Mantammados" as a stand alone nickname or pet reference ... We do not usually refer to the entire phrase Archangel Michael Taxiarchis of Mantammados ... its a 'nickname'. Just like the "Panormitis" icon (my article tomorrow) ... we dont call the icon ..the Taxiarchis of Symi the Panormitis, he is more commonly referred to as 'Panormitis' and known this way. Since I am not here on Orthodwiki long enough, do you still suggest that the article be moved anyway? Also, I dont know how to move the article ... I am happy either way, as long as the information is available for people to learn ... -- Vasiliki 18:35, January 20, 2008 (PST)
Thanks for the info Vasiliki. I would say yes, for an encyclopedic entry, the title should be moved along the lines I suggested above - name of particular saint, followed by specific place-name which is in common use. That would cover it from both angles. —Chris talk 9:49, January 20, 2008 (EST)
Hi Chris, (again) I am not too sure on how to do that (change the title) so I will leave it for a system operator to do. I am the humble slave of yeah older wiki generation --Vasiliki 19:06, January 20, 2008 (PST)
