Hmm...what's "the Witan" out of curiosity and also for clarification in the article? It appears as the last word in the second section, "more about...". User: Gabriela Posted 5 May, 2006 at 15:44 CST

The witan was the council of lords, bishops, and other such elders which elected and advised the king during the late Anglo-Saxon period in England.
