Having had a life long interest in Orthodoxy, I became Orthodox at Pascha 2012. As a teenager I read some of the writings of Timothy Ware and others, and felt a certain interest enough to continue being aware of it. The nearest Orthodox church was St. Michael in Louisville, KY. Not being old enough to drive I chose to become a member of the Roman Catholic Church where I remained for 50 years. About 21 years ago I was ordained as a permanent deacon.
Because of certain circumstances I found myself without a assignment as a deacon and treated as if I had become a "non-person". After 6 years I decided to re-investigate Orthodoxy, and as I said became formally Orthodox by being Chrismated at Pascha of this year.
