The list of the '''Hierarchs of the Diocese of Kazan''' begins with the first hierarch to govern the [[Diocese of Kazan]], St. Gury (Rutotin), who was assigned to the new [[see]] in the year 1555. The [[diocese]] was formed almost immediately after the conquest of Kazan by [[Ivan IV of Russia|Tsar Ivan IV (the Terrible)]] in 1555. During its existence the diocese has had different titles due to changing political and territorial responsibilities.
