==Life==
Panagiotis Frangakis was born in 1949 in Nice, Piraeus. He graduated from the Theological School of Athens. Entering the [[Holy Orders]], he was [[ordination|ordained]] a [[deacon]] in 1975, receiving the name Joel, and a [[priest]] in 1979. Father Joel was elected to the [[episcopate]] in 2002 and was [[consecration of a bishop|consecrated]] Metropolitan of Edessa and Pella on [[October 15]], 2002.

Metr. Joel has written many articles, particularly those on hymnography.
