Non-Chalcedonian Fathers
Is it appropriate for Fathers particular to the Non-Chalcedonian tradition (Jacob of Serugh, Severus of Antioch, etc.) to be listed in the Church Fathers category here on Orthodox Wiki? Deusveritasest 06:06, March 17, 2009 (UTC)
- No, it's not. (This is not a comment on their holiness, etc., just a matter of the way we've set policy.) —Fr. Andrew talk contribs (THINK!) 11:29, March 17, 2009 (UTC)
- Alright, I'll make a point of removing them. Deusveritasest 21:48, March 17, 2009 (UTC)
- rather than remove them - recategorise them on the same page so that the information is not lost and it is clear that they are not considered Church Fathers as such by the EO however that they are in that category. Vasiliki 21:51, March 17, 2009 (UTC)
- How can it be made clear that these figures are not recognized by the EO while still to grouping them within the Church Fathers. I was thinking of making a new page called "Non-Chalcedonian Fathers" and placing it as a subcategory of "Church Fathers", but that also seems a little off, doesn't it? - It doesnt sound that bad-it is better than losing the links ... why dont you propose the categories and sub-categories here and get a few comments about your proposed terminology. Vasiliki 22:10, March 17, 2009 (UTC)
What's wrong with losing the links if they don't belong here? —Fr. Andrew talk contribs (THINK!) 01:25, March 19, 2009 (UTC)
Isaac the Syrian
I have no clue where Isaac the Syrian should be. He obviously wasn't part of the Chalcedonian Orthodox Church, but at the same time he has received varying degrees of recognition within the EOC. Deusveritasest 21:53, March 17, 2009 (UTC)
- The OCA site has two Issac the Syrian saints. Which one are you tlking about? A third? http://ocafs.oca.org/FeastSaintsLife.asp?FSID=100333 Jan 28 http://ocafs.oca.org/FeastSaintsLife.asp?FSID=101063 Apr 12Wsk 22:35, March 17, 2009 (UTC)
- No, I actually am talking about Issac of Nineveh, the former. He was clearly a part of the Assyrian Church of the East (which rejected the First Council of Ephesus) and yet for some reason the EOC and even the OOC both felt it right to canonize him. Deusveritasest 00:17, March 18, 2009 (UTC)
