==Life==
Gerasimos Michaleas was born on [[August 21]], 1945 to Nicholas and Anastasia Michaleas in Kalamata, Greece where he completed his primary and secondary education. After emigrating to the United States of America, he enrolled at the [[Hellenic College (Brookline, Massachusetts)|Hellenic College]] in Brookline, Massachusetts in 1970 from which he graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He continued his education at [[Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology (Brookline, Massachusetts)|Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology]] in Brookline, earning a Master of Divinity degree with High Honors in 1976. After graduating, he was appointed Registrar of Hellenic College/Holy Cross, a post that he held until 1979.
On [[December 16]], 1979, Gerasimos was [[ordination|ordained]] a [[deacon]] and was called to serve as Archdeacon to Archbishop [[Iakovos (Coucouzis) of America|Iakovos]] of America, a position he held until 1996.
