Wiki Collaboration: Use the sig button ;-)
::That's a good question -- I guess <nowiki>~~~</nowiki> is just quicker, but the template includes an easy link to my talk page - I try to use it when I'm in a discussion and haven't already included a talk page link. [[User:FrJohn|Fr. John]]

::: You're so quirky with that template, or just nothing at all. It's like I know it's you on OrthodoxWiki if there's ''nothing'' after the comment (e.g. your recent project post on the Trapeza). Learn to love the handy toolbar sig button, Father John! ;-) --[[User:RockOfVictory|J. J.]] 09:27, August 17, 2006 (CDT)

:While it's not the ideal location for reasons mentioned above, I've at least got us a starting wiki page:http://christianity.wikia.com/wiki/Christianity_Knowledge_Base:ChristianKM - I chose CKB mainly because anyone can edit it. --[[User:RockOfVictory|J. J.]] 15:56, August 15, 2006 (CDT)

===Gmail chat excerpt===
''Father John and I had a Gmail chat session on Friday and I think it may be insightful to others. You can comment on this directly below, or continue the general collaboration discussion above. The excerpt isn't verbatim; I've cleaned up the formatting and done some copy editing. --[[User:RockOfVictory|J. J.]] 15:17, August 15, 2006 (CDT)''

JOHN: I think there are major hurdles to this kind of thing... Not least that a lot of people in each major community don't really want to cooperate with those outside... (I mean among Protestants, Catholics, Orthodox... and more specifically too)

ME: Yes, there are, but I'd say that we shouldn't EXclude other webmasters even though our focus is on MediaWiki

JOHN: Also, many of the issues discussed will be quite different... maybe bill it as a ChristianKM community? "Knowledge management" is a term used in the corporate world for these types of endeavors, more broadly conceived. That would encourage a certain type of thinking... that I'm hungry for, but there's not enough Orthodox interest to pull off.

ME: the share-together type of thinking?

JOHN: Basically, the goal would be to discuss strategies of managing church-based (nonprofit) information, to pull knowledge out of it. I mean the KM type of thinking. It's thinking more philsophically, e.g., about what a wiki really is doing, how it functions within a community. Not just wikis... and how the data/information gathered cvan be turned into something more valuable.

ME: So are you saying this would double up as a ChristianWiki Foundation, too?

JOHN: I don't think a ChristianWiki foundation would really work, at least across the Prot/Cath/Orthodox divide... but I think this type of "interest group" could. The attraction would be that it would bring together people like us looking for ways to strategize about managing knowledge within our specific communtiies... Kind of like a working group, but not geared so much at cooperative efforts as at shared learning, trading tips, brainstorming, etc.

ME: I think that some content could fit into the picture, too, though. Like Public Domain resources. I've seen so many attempts at publishing the KJV, or Easton's Bible Dictionary, for example...
