==History==Saint Petroc Monastery is a semiwas founded in 1992 as an Anglo-eremitic Catholic monastery. In 1995 it turned to Orthodoxy and, under instruction, was placed under the direction of Patriarch [[monasticismIgnatius IV (Hazim) of Antioch|monasticIgnatius IV of Antioch]] community for men in . In 1997, the monastery was received into [[Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia|ROCOR]] located in Cascades, Tasmania. In 1997 it became a ROCOR (Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia) establishment under the [[omophorion]] of His Grace Archbishop [[Hilarion (Kapral) of Sydney|Hilarion of Sydney]], [[Diocese of Australia and New Zealand (ROCOR)|Australia and New Zealand]]. The current superior is Hieromonk , with the mandate to not only continue using the Sarum practise of the [[Michael Mansbridge-WoodWestern Rite]], and has been assigned but to do so with the primary task explicit intent of attracting Australians people of Anglo-Celtic background ancestry to Orthodoxy using the through this rite. Fr Michael and Fr [[Barry Jefferies]], a married priest associated with Fr Michael, were baptised and ordained by Abp Hilarion to this end. The Monastery also received permission to create attached monastery missions and [[Western Riteparish]] es. In 1998, the monastery began one of the Orthodox Churchthese attached missions in Launceston, named for St. Stephen, and would go on to have other attached missions in various cities in Australia, England and Southeast Asia.
The present accommodation is very smallIn 1998, with Fr. Michael was appointed a small chapel, on [[chaplain]] at the lower slopes University of Mount Wellington. The Monastery has Tasmania by Abp Hilarion; this service concluded after the mechanism for attached monastery missions and parishes, and has a married priest doing Orthodox Chaplaincy work with University of Tasmania sold the university and seamenchaplaincy building in 2011.
