Xenophon Kiagias was born in 1956 in Athens, Greece. He studied at the University of Athens and was granted a degree in Theology. He was [[ordinateionordination|ordained]] [[deacon]] and [[priest]] by the Elder Metropolitan Petros of Aksum. Fr. Xenophon served initially as a deacon in Cairo, then in Addis Ababa in the Metropolis of Aksum as a priest. Later, he served in the Metropolis of Peristeri for seventeen years.
Fr Emmanuel was elected by the [[Holy Synod]] of the [[Church of Alexandria]] to be [[Bishop]] of Babylon (Old Cairo) and was appointed [[Hegumen]] of the [[Monastery]] of St. George in Old Cairo on [[October 27]], 2004. His consecration at the Church of Ss Constantine and Helen in Cairo was by Metropolitan Petros. On [[November 1]], 2004, Bp. Emmanuel was elected Metropolitan of Khartoum and All Sudan.
