Icon explanations

Perhaps for each image of an icon, we could have a description on the image's page explaining the different elements of the icon. We have separate pages for more well-known icons (cf. Theotokos of Vladimir), but it might be useful to explain, say, the icon of St. Irene Chrysovalantou, so that, whenever people click on that image, from whichever page it is used, they can find a description of the elements in the icon. Perhaps we could also, have a template which points the reader towards a general "Understanding iconography" kind of article which explains more broadly what different placements and colors, etc., mean. This is in my area of interest, but hardly expertise. I'm not quite sure how to structure the ideas I have about iconography on OrthodoxWiki. —magda (talk) 11:30, November 25, 2005 (CST)
