Re: Patron Saint

It's a good question, Joe. I'm not sure who that would be. Let me think about this some more. I don't think we should change the name of the site to "St. so-and-so Orthodox Encyclopedia", but I wouldn't be adverse to seeking the intercession of an appropriate patron. Do you or others have any suggestions? Fr. John

Perhaps the bishop of this Wiki's founder should get the nod in suggesting the appropriate patron(s)? uncreatedlight 14:59, 16 Jul 2005 (EDT)

Patron Saint

Please add you nominations at OrthodoxWiki:Patron saint. Thanks, Fr. John 12:42, November 7, 2005 (CST)

IRC

Maybe that section should get its own page, with a link from the Community Portal. —magda (talk) 16:42, November 10, 2005 (CST)

With the new wiki-version, change your preferences to get your sig to display as it used to: Help:Custom signatures. I would go ahead and submit your logo(s); people can decide to change their votes. —magda (talk) 14:48, November 15, 2005 (CST)

Favicon License

Joe - I notice you put the GFDL license on the FavIcon. Since this image was created and donated to OrthodoxWiki by its author, I'm going to change the license to "All Rights Reserved." I'd prefer to keep our logo and it's corresponding favicon distinctive for this site. I'll include a note to the effect that it may be used on other sites in conjunction with a link here. Let me know if my assumptions are in error. Thanks, Fr. John 15:57, November 21, 2005 (CST)

Thanks for the clarification, Joe! You're welcome to resubmit your image under a different name, as you like, for possible use a s a link image. Fr. John 20:44, November 21, 2005 (CST)

IRC

Hi Joe, It's a great idea, but I've got to spend some time with my daughter putting her to bed... One idea would be to begin porting over some of the stuff from the Media Wiki commons -- or pick up anything that's been left undone at OrthodoxWiki:Photo galleries. Maybe I can hop on IRC after she goes to bed. Thanks, Fr. John 17:28, November 26, 2005 (CST)

Hi Joe, hmm.. I'm trying to connect to IRC but I'm not able to connect. Not sure what it is -- probably something on my computer since I can't connect to ANY IRC network. Not sure I'll figure it out tonight. Fr. John

List of parishes in Texas (USA)

You inspired me to greater heights (and I ran out of calendar). I thought about trying to find an adjustable map of Texas so I could label it with the towns from the List, but couldn't figure out a way to do so. I did come across some Wikipedia conversations about having map images all to a particular standard. Perhaps you could make a "how to make a map" page, and set up some standards (and how-tos) for maps on OrthodoxWiki, since the ones you've done so far look really nice. —magda (talk) 22:41, November 29, 2005 (CST)

So I have all these links for the parish directories to the jurisdictions listed in the Orthodoxy in America template. Any idea where they would best fit? "Parish directories"? I don't want to put external links on every state page... —magda (talk) 12:26, November 30, 2005 (CST)

Two differences from your list:

I was wondering specifically if we should start a page of official parish directories. Also, for "grouping" the towns, I just look them up on Google Maps; if the town is close enough to a city, I put it as a sub-heading. —magda (talk) 13:31, November 30, 2005 (CST)

Maps

Hi Joe, just a note to say let me know if you want me to install any of these. Do you think they would be helpful, or just cause more trouble than they're worth? — FrJohn (talk)

Joe, which one: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Mafs/GoogleMapExtension or http://www.giswiki.de/index.php/Google_Maps_Extensions or both? Fr. John
Joe, tried both -- both are installed, but I can't get the first one to work - something with a JavaScript conflict I think. I can't track it down. Anyway, the second one is functional at OrthodoxWiki:Sandbox - let me know if it can do the trick. Fr. John
Hmm.. still pretty buggy. We'll see...

Radio

Hi Joe, yep :-) -- see also "O Death" here. — FrJohn (talk)

e-vangelism

Hey Joe. For the e-vangelism page hte entry is not refering to the evangelical church movement. It is making reference to the literal meaning of the word. Message to DcnDavid I have made a new format for the entry if you want to view it. (This probably meets the style and content better). An e-vangelist is a person who uses the Internet to present the Christian gospel message to the world. == Biblical Role == The role of an evangelist or e-vangelist in conjunction with the apostles, prophets, pastors and teachers is described in Ephesians 4:11-13 "11He is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ, 13until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ.
