Welcome to OrthodoxWiki!

Hello, Habib, and welcome to OrthodoxWiki!

Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Please note that OrthodoxWiki is always in development, so not everything works quite right yet. You can help, though!

OrthodoxWiki is a community-edited encyclopedia of Orthodox Christianity. Articles are created and edited by our members, and so everything that we do here is subject to review and revision. The result is a true consensus product, with every interested editor contributing his own knowledge and writing skills. As such, when you feel that criticism of an article is warranted, we encourage you to join in and fix it! Don't worry about breaking anything or doing something wrong—the other editors here are happy to jump in and help you learn.

Articles in Arabic

Greetings Habib! Good to have you here. We're not really setup to offer articles in other languages on the wiki at this point, although I would hope to have an Arabic-language site similar to the Bulgarian-language site we now offer. (See OrthodoxWiki:Localization for details.) In the meantime, I suggest you post the articles off of your user page in anticipation of that time. I'll put a sample link in so you can see how it would work. Yours in Christ, — FrJohn (talk)

P.S. I'm not sure how right-to-left writing works with MediaWiki -- should be the same as on Wikipedia, I'll have to look into it. You should simply be able to write in unicode though. I'm not very familiar with this, but we could definitely make it work with some practice, I think.

More information at meta:RTL. I could put in a CSS style that aligns text to the right, but this isn't ideal. A temporary solution might be to paste the (UTF-8) text in from another editor. Do you have any ideas? How do things work on http://ar.wikipedia.org?
Hi, You can send me a private email through this link: Special:Emailuser/FrJohn or at the email address on my user page. God bless, — FrJohn (talk)
Just a short note to confirm that the Arabic text displays well and is properly aligned/flowing from right to left. Yours in Christ, --Arbible 03:02, October 19, 2006 (CDT)
Arbible, glad to hear that. Habib - thanks for the introduction - I'll get back to you more today. Just a note that Dn. Andrew prob. deleted your articles since they were on the main wiki, where we don't really support other languages. The proper place for now is on your user page. I've asked Arbible, who speaks Arabic and has been active here for a long time for help organizing these articles for inclusion in a future Arabic-language version of OrthodoxWiki. This is an exciting thing for me! God bless you, — FrJohn (talk)

Copyright, etc.

Hi Habib,

Please add appropriate copyright tags to the images you uploaded. We need to be careful about copyright here, citing sources appropriately and tagging content with the appropriate copyright template. Please check out some of the links above (in the Welcome message) which can help you get a feel for some of this. Also, check out OrthodoxWiki:Localization/Arabic. — FrJohn (talk)
