Theophylaktos (Tzoumerkas) of Tripoli

In 1966, he was [[ordination|ordained]] a [[deacon]], followed by ordination as a [[priest]] in 1969. During the following years Fr. Theophylaktos served the Archdioceses of Veria and Naousa, and Larisa and Rhodes. In 1991, Fr Theophylaktos was attached to the Archdiocese of Carthage in Tripoli, Libya. Here he served as dean of the [[Cathedral]] of St George in Tripoli as well as served as head of the high school. He established the Hellenic Center of Greek Languages in Tripoli that served the children of mixed marriages, as well as Libyans who wanted to learn the Greek language.
In 1999, Fr. Theophylaktos was elected [[Bishop]] of Babylon (Old Cairo) by the [[Holy Synod]] and [[consecration of a bishop|consecrated]] on [[November 26]], 1999, with his [[see]] at the Patriarchal Church of St George in Old Cairo. On [[October 27]], 2004, Bp Theophylaktos was elected Metropolitan of Tripoli.
