I have included, where possible, links to several different pages for what may be the same akathist (though possibly different translations). I would rather these be commented out, e.g., <!-- comment with spaces on either side --->, than deleted. (Due to the changeable nature of the internet, some pages may be deleted or become inaccessible; other seekers-of-akathists may have different browser requirements, etc.) As far as I know, this is the most extensive English-language page on akathists online, and I hope to see more additions from others and to keep adding to it myself. —the humbly exuberant magda 00:31, 24 Jul 2005 (EDT)

Links

Wow! This is neat. Am I right in thinking that you've linked on the word "Akathist" so that the saints could be linked to their internal pages? That makes sense, but maybe a sentence of explanation is in order. I think it confuses things and isn't really helpful to link on words like "resurrection," "cup," "passion," or "Monasteries" -- most people should know what these are and it makes me think that the links to "Akathist" would be to the same page I'm on. Or do you think it's not really a problem?

On the other hand, some of these titles, e.g. "Joy of all who sorrow" or "Protection" could like to the feast days, which would explain the original story behind the liturgical commemoration in icon and hymn, and so on.

Thanks for your work! Fr. John
