The Venerable [[Bede]] in his ''[[Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum|Ecclesiastical History of the English People]]'' describes the proceedings in detail about seventy years after the events he describes. The ''Anglo-Saxon Chronicle'', however, makes no mention at all of the synod.
