Saint Petroc Monastery is a semi-eremitic [[monasticism|monastic]] community for men in the [[Diocese of Australia and New Zealand (ROCOR)|Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia]] located in Cascades, Tasmania. In 1995 it turned to Orthodoxy and, under instruction, was placed under the direction of Patriarch Ignatius IV of Antioch. In 1997 it became a ROCOR (Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia) establishment under the The current superior is Fr [[omophorion]] of His Grace Archbishop [[Hilarion Michael (KapralMansbridge-Wood) of Sydney|Michael]]. The current superior is Hieromonk Michael, and follows the monastery has been assigned the task of attracting people Sarum practise of Anglo-Saxon-Celtic background to Orthodoxy using the [[Western Rite]] of the Orthodox Church.
The ==History==Saint Petroc Monastery consists was founded in 1992 as an Anglo-Catholic monastery. In 1995 it turned to Orthodoxy and, under instruction, was placed under the direction of Patriarch [[Ignatius IV (Hazim) of two affiliated housesAntioch|Ignatius IV of Antioch]]. In 1997, the monastery was received into [[Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia|ROCOR]], Saint Petroc House with a small chapelunder the omophorion of Archbishop [[Hilarion (Kapral) of Sydney|Hilarion of Sydney]], at Cascades [[Diocese of Australia and New Zealand (ROCOR)|Australia and Holyrood HouseNew Zealand]], with the mandate to not only continue using the Sarum practise of the [[Western Rite]], but to do so with a small chapel at Avondalethe explicit intent of attracting people of Anglo-Celtic ancestry to Orthodoxy through this rite. The Monastery has the mechanism for creating also received permission to create attached monastery missions and parishes. Michael becomes a chaplain at the University of Tasmania.*2003 - Saint Colman Prayer Book, compiled by the monastery, is authorised for use in ROCOR.*2004 In June - The of the next year, the Monastery calls a meeting of [[Western Rite]] clergy from in Australia and New Zealand- which included the priests attached to the monastery and two [[Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, regarding New Zealand, and All Oceania|Antiochian]] clergy - to discuss the future of the Western Rite in Australasia. In 2013, Hieromonk Michael is suspended and retired by Metropolitan [[Hilarion (Kapral) of New York|Hilarion]] due to canon violations, neglect (through absence) of St Dyfan's parish in Hobart, and "bringing disrepute to the Orthodox witness of the Western Rite movement" through his online interactions. This means that the monastery's lone monk can no longer celebrate services. It is not totally certain what this means for the future of the monastery.
