Saints Cosmas and Damian Adult The Home is an adult care facility for the elderly committed to providing the highest quality of health and personal care services to its residents in an affordable and most cost-effective manner. Pleasantly located on a three and a half acre site in the residential Mariner's Harbor section ways of Staten Island, maintaining the Home is a six-story, 270-bed facility surrounded by luscious green lawns, tall trees, and beautiful gardens. Saints Cosmas and Damian is centrally located in the New York Metropolitan area and is easily accessible by private and public transportation. Sponsored by the [[Orthodox Church in America]] and licensed by the [http://www.health.state.ny.us/ Department of Health independance of the State of New York], Saints Cosmas and Damian welcomes individuals for whom maintaining a household has become difficult, but yet who wish to maintain their independence, dignity, and privacy. We offer reasonably-priced accommodations with quality services and a diverse program of activities in a warmelderly, secure, home-like atmosphere. Our philosophy is to make each resident's day meaningful, productive, and enjoyable by providing an all-encompassing facility with a full complement of accommodations and a variety of activities from which the resident can choose. Social social and cultural events along with other planned activities foster interaction among the residents and yield many life-long friendships.  Residents should be ambulatory at the home are able to walk (walkers are permittedsometimes with assistance) and able to can take care of their own personal needs. Although Saints Cosmas and Damian is not a nursing home and therefore themselves, but the Home does not provide skilled regular medical care, a physician visits twice weekly and daily medication supervision is available. In addition, there are regular visits by specialists, including podiatrists, urologists, ophthalmologists, psychiatrists, and dermatologists. The Home also will assist in coordinating dental services, visiting nurse services, and physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Should a resident should residents require hospitalization or skilled nursing care, we will make all necessary arrangements. Since spiritual ministry is an important element of the Home, liturgical services are held regularly in the chapel and services are also held regularly in the building by [[Roman Catholic]] clergy. Our goal is to make you feel right at home, and to that end we make every effort to insure this is your home! Each room, either single or double occupancy, is fully furnished , with telephones, private bath and has wall-to-wall carpeting, ample closet space, a telephone, and a private bath. We have a professional, friendly, and compassionate staff dedicated to caring for all your needs and committed to making Saints Cosmas and Damian a warm and comfortable home for you!
