Since 2011 , he is dean was the Dean and Founder of the Sts Cyril & Athanasius Institute for Orthodox Studies, San Francisco.

On July 1 ([[June 18]] os), 2016 , the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church [[ROCOR]] elected Archimandrite Irenaeus (Steenberg) bishop to be the Bishop of Sacramento, and Vicar of the Western American Diocese.
