The community was founded in 1989 under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop [[Dmitri (Royster) of Dallas|Dmitri]], Archbishop of Dallas and the South. The monastery has been located in Wagner, South Carolina since June 1996 on a sixty acre site about 30 miles southwest on Columbia, South Carolina.
