The ProviCare Foundation is a community based, non-profit organisation, supported by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. ProviCare provides free confidential telephone counselling and rehabilitation service, and offers relief and support to sufferers of alcohol or drug abuse, as well as to their families and carers.

'ProviCare', the name of which is derived from 'Providence of God and Care of the Church', arose out of a commitment made by Archbishop Stylianos of Australia to help save the lives of future generations by setting up a drug and alcohol service. Various philanthropists, both within the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and outside, provided great support, large financial donations and successful fund raising activities.

In March 2004, an Australia-wide telephone counselling service commenced. The operators are bilingual (English and Greek) psychologists employed by ProviCare, who are able to counsel a person in their own alcohol or drug use, or those who are affected by it.

The same psychologists not only provide counselling, but also conduct seminars, presentations and educational talks about alcohol and drug use, providing information and awareness for families and carers on how to interact with a drug/alcohol user, whether as part of a family or a friend.
