The title was also used historically by the pre-[[Great Schism|schism]] [[Church of Rome]] (and its modern descendent, the [[Roman Catholic Church]]) and continues to be used by the [[Oriental Orthodox]] [[Church of Alexandria (Coptic)|Coptic Orthodox Church]]. The Eastern Orthodox Patriarch of Alexandria holds the title of Pope, but usually uses [[Patriarch]].
[[Old Believers]] seem to use the word "''pope" '' as a synonym for ''priest''. However old believer ''popes '' or ''priests'' are usually addressed as ''babushka'' or ''father''.
