Locum tenens
Continuing the discussion... if I understand people correctly, we don't want to include non-ruling bishops in the line of succession. Referring to the List of Patriarchs of Constantinople, for instance, where there's a vacant see, we just skip that (1918-1921), and until the see is filled, leave an em-dash (—)? And if I understand the chronology, this is what happened:
- Sylvester: Archbishop of Montréal (OCA), 1963-1981
- Theodosius: locum tenens of Ottawa and Canada (OCA), 1981-1990
- Seraphim: Archbishop of Ottawa (OCA), 1990-present
...and the succession boxes should cut out Theodosius, going straight from Sylvester to Seraphim. If I have that properly in my head, I think that sounds good. —magda (talk) 14:29, May 30, 2008 (UTC)
