Nektarios of Arsinoi
His Grace, the Most Reverend Nektarios (Spyrou) of Arsinoi, is the Bishop of Arsinoi of the Church of Cyprus, auxiliary to Metropolitan Georgios of Paphos.
Life
Bp. Nektarios was born in Larnaca, on the southern coast of Cyprus, on January 15, 1969. After completing his education locally, he studied theology at the University of Thessalonica in Greece. Having entered the monastic life, he was ordained a deacon in 1996 at Ayios Georgios Kontos Monastery. In 1998, he was ordained to the priesthood at Ayios Georgios of Mavrovouni Monastery by Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Kition.
In 2005, Fr. Nektarios enrolled in the School of Oriental and African Studies of London University. While in England, Fr. Nektarios was elevated to archimandrite by Archbishop Gregorios (Theocharous) of Thyateira and Great Britain and was assigned as priest of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Archangel Michael in London. In late 2007, Fr. Nektarios returned to Cyprus and was assigned as administrator of the Bishopric of Kition.
On September 11, 2008, Fr. Nektarios was elected Bishop of Arsinoi by the Holy Synod of Cyprus on the recommendation of Bishop Georgios of Paphos. Bp. Nektarios was consecrated on September 24, 2008 by Abp. Chrysostomos II of Cyprus.
