Μητροπολίτης Κυθήρων κ. Σεραφείμ (Στεργιούλης) γεννήθηκε το 1950 στα Βραγκιανά Καρδίτσας. Σπούδασε Θεολογία στο ΑΠΘ και έλαβε υποτροφία για μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στο τμήμα Συστηματικής Θεολογίας. Το 1971 χειροτονήθηκε Διάκονος και το 1981 Πρεσβύτερος-Αρχιμανδρίτης. Υπηρέτησε ως Ιεροκήρυξ στην Ι. Μ Σπετσών και Αιγίνης. Το 1981 μετέβη στο Αγ. Όρος για την σύναξη υλικού από 110 Αγίους πατέρες της Εκκλησίας, κυρίως των νηπτικών. Έχει εκδώσει τρίτομο φιλοκαλικό Ανθολόγιο. Από το 1991 μέχρι σήμερα είναι υπεύθυνος σύνταξης και εκδόσεως των εγκολπίων ημερολογίων της Ι. Μ. Ύδρας. Μητροπολίτης εξελέγει στις 2 Ιουλίου 2005.

The Holy icon of Panagia Myrtidiotissa (The Virgin of the Myrtle Tree) was found by a sheperd in c. 1160. A monastery has been founded in that exact location and the icon and monastery celebrate August 15.
