Archbishop '''Methodios Fouyias''' of Thyateira and Great Britain (1925 - 2006)

He was born in [[1925]], in the village Kalivia, in [[Corinthia]]. He received his bachelor degree in Theology from the [[Athens University]] in [[1952]] and continued his studies at the Manchester University in Great Britain from where he received a Ph. Degree in Philosophy in [[1962]].

In [[1970]] he was appointed Theology professor at the Edinburgh University and in 1984 at the Boston Hellenic Orthodox Theological School. Methodios Fouyias was ordained deacon in [[1947]] and priest in [[1950]].

He served as head priest of the Munich Hellenic Orthodox Community from 1951 to 1954, head secretary of the [[Alexandria Patriarchate]] from 1954 to 1956 while from 1958 to 1960 Methodios was head priest at the Adis Abeba Hellenic Orthidox Community and teacher at the Greek School there.

From 1966 to 1968 secretary of the Holy Synod of the [[Church of Greece]], from 1968 to 1979 Metropolitan Bishop of Ethiopia and from 1979 to 1988 Archbishop of Thyateira and Great Britain.

Methodios has written many books among them: Steps in the course of the youth, Hellenism and Judaism, International dimension of Greek culture.

He died on Friday, [[July 7]], [[2006]].
