Bishop Maxim (Vasilijevic) was enthroned as bishop of the Diocese of Western America of the Serbian Orthodox Church on July 30, 2006. Previously, he was the Bishop of Hum, Vicar in the Metropolitanate of Dabro-Bosna, in Serbia and was a professor at the Orthodox Theological Faculty in Belgrade,
He was enthroned by Bp. Longin of the New Gracanica Metropolitanate, in the Cathedral Church of St. Steven the First-Crowned in Alhambra, California. Bp. Maxim was elected to the see of the Diocese of Western America at the regular session of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, held in May, 2006. Bp. Maxim succeeded Bp. Longin, who previously was the Administrator of the diocese.
