Welcome! OrthodoxWiki is a free-content encyclopedia and information center for Orthodox Christianity that anyone can edit. We've just opened. Things are still pretty rough around here, but we're making progress every day. Want to help?

This site is shamelessly modelled on Wikipedia. Please visit Meta-Wiki for lots of information about how things work around here.

Things to Do, Places to Go

You can go to a random page to see some of what we've been working on, or you can take a look at some of the numerous articles developing in the following categories and sections: American Saints, Apostolic Fathers, Arts, Asceticism, Bibliography, Bioethics, Bishops, Canon Law, Church Calendar, Church History, Church Fathers, Ecumenical Councils, Emperors, Feasts, Heresies, Inter-Christian, Jurisdictions, Liturgical Chant, Links, Marketplace, Monasteries, Organizations, Oriental Orthodox, Orthodox Church, Robber Councils, Saints, Scripture, Seminaries, Sermons and Treatises, and Stewardship.

Please add in what you see missing!

A Few Places to Start

How to Contribute

Start a new discussion by creating a new article or category. What do you know about? Do you know some excellent Byzantine chant CDs? Share the knowledge! Have you read an excellent book? Post a review. See something missing? Add it! If you're serious about helping us, please register. Then you can go to Special:Listusers and click on your name to create a custom profile page.

Hop right in -- just click edit (at the top of any page) to begin. Click the editing help link for details on creating your new page. Create a link to a new page -- using double brackets around a word or a set of words, like this: [[Apostle Peter]] -- and then click on it to create that page. Be sure to take a look at OrthodoxWiki:Style Manual (in development) for our community standards and guidelines for articles.

Don't worry about messing up or breaking OrthodoxWiki -- your work can always be cleaned up and honed by others, which is part of the spirit of this project.

The WYSIWIG editor helps with most browsers. We also recommend the Wikipedia Extension for Mozilla Firefox.

Want to adopt OrthodoxWiki in a language besides English? Let us know! Driven to submit a new logo? We'd love to see it! Contact us at info at orthodoxwiki dot org.
