His Eminence Joseph (Harkiolakis) is the former Metropolitan of New Zealand, and served between 2003 and August 2005, he is currently retired, and living in Peiraius, Greece.
Auxillary Bishop
He was consecrated on the 3rd of December, 1989, and served the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia as the auxiliary bishop (of Arianzos). His longest term was in Adelaide, guiding the Third Archdiocesan District of South Australia and the Northern Territory. After this, he was moved to Melbourne as the second auxiliary bishop, responsible for the Second Archdiocesan District of Victoria and Tasmania.
Metropolitan of New Zealand
He was elected as Metropolitan of New Zealand, and served between 2003-2005. In 2005, he resigned for health reasons [1] and held his final liturgy August 28, 2005. [2]
