'''John (Wendland) of New York and the Aleutians''' was a [[metropolitan]] of the [[Church of Russia]] and the head of the Russian Exarchate of North America from 1963 to 1967.

Born Constantine Nikolaevich Wendland in 1909, Bp. John was named the Patriarchal Exarch of the Russian Exarchate of North America with the title of Metropolitan on [[August 3]], 1963. He was recalled to the Soviet Union on [[July 10]], 1967. Metr. John was assisted by Bishop [[Dositheus (Ivanchenko) of New York|Dositheus (Ivanchenko)]] who was [[consecration of a bishop|consecrated]] [[bishop]] on [[April 17]], 1966. Metr. John reposed in 1989.
