The '''Holy Transfiguration Monastery''' is a [[monasticism|monastic]] community for [[monk|men]] under the [[Diocese of Australia and New Zealand (ROCOR)|Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia]]. Originally established as a skete under the [[omophorion]] of His Eminence Archbishop [[Paul (Pavlov) of Sydney|Paul of Sydney]], it has since been made a monastery, all the while under the abbacy of [[Archimandrite]] [[Alexis (Rosentool)|Alexis]]. In August 2010, Archimandrite Alexis retired as abbot; he was succeeded by Hieromonk [[Sergius (Shatrov)]], with Fr Alexis as spiritual father[http://www.russianorthodoxchurch.ws/synod/eng2010/8ensynodteleconf.html]. There are currently 6 monastics in residence.

==Archimandrite Alexis==
After several years service at the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, being the superior twice, Archimandrite '''Alexis (Rosentool)''' came to Australia and founded Holy Transfiguration Skete. He is an experienced iconographer, having studied under Archimandrite [[Kyprian (Pyzhov)]], completing the fresco on the ceiling of the Nativity of St John the Forerunner Church, Canberra. He has given lectures at various Russian and Serbian youth conferences, including at [[Monastery of Our Lady of Kazan (Kentlyn, New South Wales)|New Shamordino]], 1982, and the 38th Russian Youth Conference in Melbourne, 2002.
