Protopresbyter '''Georgy Ivanovich Shavelsky''' ({{lang-ru|Георгий Иванович Шавельский}}) was a military [[chaplain]] in the Imperial Russian Armed Forces during the reign of Emperor [[Nicholas II of Russia|Nicholas II]]. He was active as a chaplain in the war front during the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905 and took part in the reorganization of the chaplain services of the imperial military and naval departments. He was appointed Chaplain-General of the Forces, that is Protopresbyter of the Russian Army and Navy, as well as a member of the [[Apostolic Governing Synod|Holy Synod]]. He was nominated as one of the twenty five candidates for the office of Patriarch during the [[All-Russian Church Council of 1917-1918|local council of 1917-1918]].
