Dioscorus II of Alexandria, also Dioscorus II the Younger, was the Patriarch and Pope of Alexandria of the Church of Alexandria from 516 to 517. A Miaphysite, he continued the policies of his predecessors, Peter III and Athanasius II.

Life

Little is known of his life other than he maintained a Miaphysite position and engaged in correspondence with Patr. Severus of Antioch concerning their common christology. His installation as patriarch aroused civil riots for which he traveled to Constantinople in an unsuccessful attempt to obtain a pardon for Alexandria for the imperial punishments placed on the city.

He was the nephew of Patriarch Timothy II Aelurus and is remembered on the Coptic Synaxarion on the 7th day of Thout.
