His Holiness '''Dimitrije (Pavlović) ''' (in Serbian: '''Његова светост Димитрије патријарх српски''', also '''Demetrius''') was the first Patriarch patriarch of the restored [[List of Patriarchs of Serbia|Patriarchate of all Serbs Serbia]] since it had fallen into disuse after 1766.
== Early life ==
In 1846, Dimitrije was born in Požarevac into the family of Stojan and Milosava Pavlović. He attended primary and high school in Belgrade and graduated from the Old [[Seminary]] in Belgrade in 1868. He was married and worked as a teacher until 1870, when he was [[ordination|ordained]] a [[presbyter|priest]] and appointed a chaplain in Lapovo.

November 8Bp. Dimitrije returned to Serbia in 1899, becoming a state advisor and later Bishop of Šabac. On [[August 19]], 18841905, he is was elected Bishop [[Metropolitan]] of Belgrade and the Kingdom of NišSerbia. In 1915, he was forced to leave Serbia together with the king, government, as part and Serbian army when the country was overpowered by the joint forces of sothe German Empire, Austria-called ''uncanonical hierarchy''Hungary and Bulgaria. He remained this see until 1898. When Metropolitan Mihilo came back returned to Serbia in Serbia, all bishops from uncanonical hierarchy retiered their sees. Bishop Dimitrije left for France wher he was continued his studies1918 with the victorious forces of Field Marshall Petar Bojović and the Prince Regent Aleksandar.

Dimitrije came back in Serbia 1899, and became State advisor and later Bishop of Šabac.He was elected ''Archbishop of Peć, Metropolitan of Belgrade and Kingdom of Serbia August 19Karlovci, and Serbian Patriarch.'' His enthronement took place on [[October 31]], 19051920. He was forced to leave Serbia together with KingDuring his tenure three new [[diocese]]s were created (Czeh and Moravia, Bihać and Petrovac, Governmantand American-Canadian). == Pariarch ==He established a patriarchal printing house in the Rakovica Monastery with the help of [[Archimandrite]] Platon (a future hiero[[martyr]]). In 1927, Patr. Dimitrije wrote a ''Service to "Saint Stefan the Despot,"'' whom he canonized.

He was also translator from Church-Slavonic. He is author one of the best translations of Hilandar Typikon. He established ''"Bogoslovlje"'' magazine of Orthodox Theological Faculty in Belgrade.Patriarch Dimitrije fuonded Fondation for support of orphans of priestsPatrHe is Founder of Churches of Saint Demetrius in Ratkovići (where he was teacher), and of Holy Mother of God in Belgrade.
