His Eminence Daniel (Pourtsouklis) of Kaisariani Vyron and Ymittos is the Metropolitan of the Metropolis of Kaisariani, Vyron and Ymittos under the jurisdiction of the Church of Greece. The metropolis is located in the eastern suburbs of Athens, Greece. Metr. Daniel has served as metropolitan of the metropolis since 2000.

Life

Dionysios (Dennis) Pourtsouklis was born on September 19, 1952 in New Manolada Ilia, located in the western part of the Peloponnese peninsula of Greece. After completing his basic education, Dionyios attended the Higher Ecclesiastical School in Athens from 1971 to 1973. From 1973, he studied theology at the Theological School of the University of Athens, graduating in 1977.

On May 19, 1973 Dionysios was tonsured a monk at the Monastery of the Life Giving Spring in Upper Xenia, Almyros, Magnesia and was given the name Elijah Daniel.

On December 29, 1974, Mnk. Daniel was ordained a deacon by Bishop Christodoulos of Demetrias and was assigned as deacon to the Church of the Ascension of Christ in Volos. On March 11, 1979, Dcn. Daniel was ordained a priest by Bishop Christodoulos and also raised to the dignity of archimandrite.
