His Eminence '''Chrysostomos (Themelis) of MessiniaMessenia''' was the [[Metropolitan]] of the [[Metropolis of MessiniaMessenia]] under the [[jurisdiction]] of the [[Church of Greece]] from 1965 to 2007. The metropolis is located in the southwestern part of the Peloponnese.
==Life==
His Eminence Chrysostomos (Themelis) was born in 1918 in Istiea, Evia (Euboea), Greece. After he completed his basic education Metr. Chrysostomos continued his education studying theology. In 1944, he entered the [[Holy Orders]] when he was [[ordination|ordained]] a [[deacon]] and received the name Chrysostomos. In 1945, he was ordained a [[priest]]. Among his appointments, he served as chief secretary of [[Holy Synod]] of Greece.
In 1957, Father Chrysostomos was elected to the [[episcopate]] and [[consecration of a bishop|consecrated]] a [[titular bishop]]. In 1965, Bishop Chrysostomos was elected by the [[Holy Synod]] and [[enthronement|enthrone]]d as the Metropolitan of MessiniaMessenia.
Metr. Chrysostomos was noted for writing many books. In 1990, he received an award of an honorary Doctorate degree from the University of Athens. Metr. Chrysostomos reposed on [[February 28]], 2007 at the age 89.
