Chrysostomos (Sabbatos) of Messenia
His Eminence Chrysostomos (Sabbatos) of Messenia (Greek: Χρυσόστομος Σαββάτος) is the Metropolitan of the Metropolis of Messenia under the jurisdiction of the Church of Greece.
Life
Born Christodoulos Sabbatos in the Athens suburb of Peristeri in 1961, Christodoulos entered into a career in the Orthodox Church and received the ecclesiastical name of Chrysostomos. His education includes degrees from schools in Rome and Strasbourg. He is a professor and theologian with the Theology Faculty of the University of Athens. He also holds membership in the Orthodox-Roman Catholic Dialogue Commission.
On March 15, 2007, Fr, Chrysostomos was elected Metropolitan of Messenia[1]. He has continued his university obligations after his consecration as metropolitan.
