Our father among saints the [[saint]]s '''Varnava (Nastić) (''', also '''Barnabas the New Confessor''', (in Serbian:'''''Свети Варнава Нови Исповједник''') was auxilary [[auxiliary bishop ]] of Hvosno. His [[feast day]] is [[October 30]] in on the Julian Calendar. This glorius hierarch was born in Gary, Indiana, [[January 31]], 1914. into family of Serbian emigrants Atanasije and Zorka Nastić. He was born Vojislav Nastić. When Vojislav was child, his parents left USA for their homeland. He graduate high school in Sarajevo 1933, he continued his education at the Orthodox Theological Faculty in Belgrade, graduating in 1937. After Graduating he was catechist in two high shools in Sarajevo. Vojislav took monastic vows in Mileševa Monastery 1940 and was given name Varnava. Varnava was ordained [[hierodeacon]] by Metropoliten [[Petar (Zimonjić) of Dabar-Bosna|Petar the New Martyr]]. Deacon Varnava stayed in Sarajevo during the war. Croatian faschists wanted to force him to becam of co called ''"Croatian Orthodox Church"'' on faschist creation organised in order to destroy Serbian population in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Fr. Varnava cathegoricly refused this. Soon he left Sarajevo in order to save live.
After war he ==Life==Vojislav Nastić was ordained hieromonk and raised protosyncellos by bishop Nektarije of Zvornik and Tuzla. In it's first regular sesion Holy Assembly born in Gary, Indiana, on [[January 31]], 1914 into a family of Serbian Orthodox Church elected Fremigrants. Varnava Auxilary Bishop of Serbain Patriarch with title vicar bishop of HvosnoHis father and mother were Atanasije and Zorka Nastić. He When Vojislav was given administration of Dioces Dabar-Bosnaa child, his parents returned to their homeland. Vojislav attended high school in Sarajevo, graduating in 1933. He is cosecrated by Patriarch Gavrilocontinued his education at the Orthodox Theological Faculty in Belgrade, Bishop Nektarije, and Bishop Vikentije of Zletovo and Strumica [[May 20]], 1947graduating in 1937. After graduating he taught as a catechist in two high schools in Sarajevo.
In 1940, Vojislav took [[monasticism|monastic]] vows in Mileševa Monastery, receiving the name Varnava. Varnava was [[ordination|ordained]] [[Hierodeacon]] by Metropolitan [[Petar (Zimonjić) of Dabar-Bosna|Petar of Dabar-Bosna]].  Deacon Varnava remained in Sarajevo during World War II. Croatian fascists, however, tried to force him to join a fascist creation called the "Croatian Orthodox Church" that they had organized to subvert the Serbian population in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Dn. Varnava categorically refused this. Soon began new troubles for he had to leave Sarajevo in order to save his life.  After war he was ordained a [[Hieromonk]] and raised to the rank of [[Protosyngellos]] by [[Bishop ]] Nektarije of Zvornik and Tuzla. In its first regular session, the Holy Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church elected Fr. Varnava[[auxiliary bishop]] to the Serbian Patriarch with the title of Bishop of Hvosno, with the responsibility of administering the [[Diocese]] of Dabar-Bosna. He was [[consecration of a bishop|consecrated]] by Patriarch Gavrilo, Bp. Nektarije, and Bp. Vikentije of Zletovo and Strumica on [[May 20]], 1947. In his new position Bishop Varnava began openly critsed criticizing the new comunist communist regime for mistreating of Churchthe church. He was arested soon, arrested and sentenced for to twenty year preasonyears in prison. He is acused for was accused of being an American spy. On with one of "prooves" vas the fact charges being that "he was teching teaching his sister English, so she can could be used as American a spy"for the Americans.  Bp. Varnava was subjected to torture, lack of food, and was kept in the most isolated wing of the prison. But Bp. Varnava remained calm. Every day he sang the troparia and other hymns. The communist Government even arranged an accident in order to get rid of him in which he broke his leg. Although the communist secret police, OZNA, did not allow doctors to provide him any medical help, he recovered. He was released after the accident to house arrest in the Gomionica Monastery in the Diocese of Banja Luka until his release in 1960. He died on [[November 12]], 1964, in circumstances that led some historians to believe that he was poisoned by OZNA. In 2005, during the regular session of the [[Holy Synod|Holy Assembly]] of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church Bp. Varnava was [[glorification|canonized]] and his name was added to the list of other saints of the Serbian people and of Orthodox Christian faith.
Bishop Varnava was tortured hunger, and was in most isolated prison wing. But Bishop Varnava remained calm. Evry day he was singing troparia and other Hymns. Comunist Governmant even aranged on tryn accident in order to kill him. He broke his leg in this accident. OZNA (People's Protection Departmant, Yugoslavian comunist seecret police) did not alow doctors to give him medical help. He is released in house aresst in Gomionica Monastery, Diocese of Banja Luka, after accident.
Bishop Varnava was relesed 1960. He died [[November 12]], 1964. Some historians belivs that he was poisoned by OZNA.
