The Right Reverend '''Athanasy (Martos)''' was the first [[bishop]] of Brisbane within the [[Diocese of Australia and New Zealand (ROCOR)|Diocese of Australia and New Zealand]], [[Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia]]. He was accepted from the autonomous Byelorussian Orthodox Church into the Russian Orthodox Church Ourside Russia on [[May 6 May ]], 1946, and became a bishop of Brisbane within the Diocese[[diocese]].

During a period of time (Oct from October 1952 to May 1953) that [[Archbishop ]] [[Theodore (Rafalsky) of Sydney|Theodore]] of Sydney was hospitalised, Bp . Athanasy accepted the administration of the diocese.

Between 1953 and 1955, he was appointed to no less than four sees [[see]]s - Tunisia, Edmondton, Montevideo , and Buenos Aires, the last of which he took up, arriving in 1956.
