The holy, glorious, all-laudable Apostle Silvan (sometimes called Silvanus or Silouan) is numbered among the Seventy Apostles. He assisted both the Chief Apostles (I Peter 5:12; II Corinthians 1:19) and was Bishop of Thessaloniki. After suffering much he reposed in the Lord. The Church remembers St. Silvan on July 30.
