His Eminence the Most Reverend Amphiloky (Vakulsky) of Alaska was a missionary priest in Siberia and North America before his appointment as Bishop of Alaska in 1923.

Life

Baptized Anton Vakulsky and given the name Amphiloky when he was tonsured a monk, Amphiloky was a missionary among the Chukchi peopleWikipedia:Chukchi_people in Siberia during the years 1909-1910. After arriving in North America, he continued serving, from 1910 to 1915, the parishes of emigrant Orthodox Christians in Alberta, Canada.

Amphiloky was consecrated Bishop of Alaska by the Russian North American mission in 1923, a position he served until 1931.

Abp. Amphiloky reposed in 1933 at St. Tikhon's Monastery in South Canaan, Pennsylvania.
